A short story

While counting my change,I thought of this story:

Blessings
By Naomi Vilvovsky

Once, a boy and a girl, siblings, very competitive, were walking in New York City with their mother. Now, keeping mind, they lived in New York, and beggars and skyscrapers and large crowds were nothing strange to them.

As I was saying there was nothing new to them. But one thing was new about one of New York's many beggars. He was telling people that for donating to him, a person will immediately receive a blessing from God.

Now, all of this was mystical, and at the same time tempting. The boy, who's name was Trent, asked his mother for change.

Now you don't know this, because I did not tell you, but their mother always spoiled them.

So, of course, she gave him all the change she had, and that wasn't a little amount either, and he gave the money to the poor old beggar.
-"Thank- you" said the beggar, "God will surly bless you after this"

The boy happily went along home, which I'll tell you, was only about a block away, and he started bragging to his sister, Sharisse

-"God sent me a blessing, and what did he send you?" He asked, teasing
-"A rotten brother!" Sharisse shouted and went away.

The next day, their mother took them to the same place as the day before, and sat down to read. "Entertain yourself" She had told them.

Sharisse eyed the poor beggar that gave Trent a blessing the day before, and she quickly took action. She sweetly asked her mother for spare change
-"I'm sorry dear." Her mother said, "But, here's a ten dollar bill, I'm sure you can buy whatever you wanted to buy with that"

Crunching the newly-printed bill in her hand, Sharisse walked over to the old man.
-"Is God still sending wishes?" She asked knowing the answer.
-"Why, yes, yes he is!" The old man said.
Sharisse put the ten dollars in the beggar's can and stood there looking at him with wide eyes. For a moment, the man couldn't not believe his eyes, until he saw the child in front of him.
-"God sent you 3 blessings today darling!" He said trying to sound friendly.

Sharisse happily walked over to her brother and told him what happened. Now as I told you, both children were terribly competitive, and they kept asking their mother for more and more money. The poor man had gotten at least a hundred dollars when the mother did something weird. Well weird to them, that is.

She refused to give them money. Well refused is a tough word, she simply said 'no' (now we won't mention that she only said that because she ran out of money)

And the children started bothering her. The talked and yelled and bothered and annoyed until poor old mom ran out of nerves and screamed "BE QUIET!!!!!"

Now that surprised not only every single person that knew her, but also herself. She grabbed her children's hands and marched them home.

On their way home, Trent whispered something to Sharisse

"I got one more blessings then you"
